Plot
The documentary offers a two-hour look into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, tracing the six long years of work on the Japanese animation master’s latest film, The Boy and the Heron. This was a very moving and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa gets a close-up look at Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process during the making of The Boy and the Heron. He successfully mixes scenes from Miyazaki’s films with real people who were involved in the making of the film, and people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Love & Anarchy International Film Festival in Helsinki. Sometimes the audience laughed out loud, sometimes they wiped their hands. I hope Miyazaki can make more films. I recommend this documentary to all Ghibli fans.
