A prequel to the original Dune, it tells the story of how the Rossak Brotherhood evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen, who used the voice, comes from one called ‘Mentats of Dune’. These three books intertwine the development of the Brotherhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk doctors.
It’s a great spin-off of a beloved film franchise
This spin-off is more reminiscent of Game of Thrones than Dune. That being said, Dune: The Prophecy is everything I expected it to be and more. I should start by saying that I’ve never read the source material or seen the original film.
I love them both, so I had high hopes for this series
My experience with Dune is based on the two Dune movies that have come out in the last few years starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. Those two movies (especially Dune: Part 2) are two of my favorite movies I’ve seen in the last few years. Dune: Prophecy is a series that takes place 10,000 years before the start of the Dune movies and is about how the Harkonnen sisters started the Bene Gesserit as a fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity.
The show may be more Game of Thrones than Dune, but either way… it’s a lot of fun
The most important thing about this show is that it does exactly what it set out to do, which is to deepen our understanding of the Bene Gesserit. You don’t have to see both Dune films to enjoy this, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you have.
