It always has a natural flow, is layered and thought-provoking, and demonstrates a wide range of emotions such as suspenseful tension, poignant pathos, and witty humor. The stories are so beautifully paced, structured with such nuance and attention to coherence, a high emotional level, and touch on complex and sensitive themes with intelligence and tact. Whenever there’s a play or a more action-oriented scene there’s always a reason, never there for the sake of it.

The characters are also a big part of the appeal

Not only are the sets done with epic scale, gorgeous staging, emotion and dramatic tension, but beneath all the scale and brilliant attention to detail there is a lot of heart, and a multi-layered one at that. They are not too long and there are no misplaced elements. 'Game of Thrones' it has such well developed characters and as close to real life as possible despite being in a fantasy world. These characters aren’t archetypes of heroes and villains (Joffrey is the only one close to that, but the difference is that he’s an extremely interesting, well-developed one who ranks well above one hundred percent on the threat level scale), they have much more a lot to them and they have strengths and weaknesses.
